On April 12, 2016, the largest hail storm in San Antonio’s history hit the city with tremendous force. It was around 10:30 pm and many folks were at home, settled in for the night, and completely unprepared for the magnitude of the storm.

SERVPRO of Northwest San Antonio was called on for many storm damage restoration and clean up jobs in the following weeks but one job that really stood out for us was a church near MacArthur Park. The church sustained major hail damage to the roof, skylights and roof mounted HVAC systems. The interior damage was just as severe, with damage to the sanctuary, Sunday school classrooms, meeting rooms, church offices, and the lobby.

SERVPRO of Northwest San Antonio was called out to tarp up the entire roof, clean up damage and dry out the structure and contents. All this while the church remained open. This presented an interesting challenge for our Production Manager, Gary Brown. Gary has been with us for 16 years and has rarely worked on a building that was still operational while the work was done. He rallied his crews and performed all tasks asked of him and got the church dried out in time for them to have worship services that Sunday.
